For Parents

Before School Program:

  • Helps parents to get to work on time
  • Gives parents the peace of mind to know that their children are in a safe, warm and supervised place while parents are on their way to work
  • Provides students with a warm meal for breakfast
  • Provides students an opportunity to finish up with homework
  • Students start the day with physical activity, to get their energy flow up, and ready for the day

 

After School Program:

  • Provides parents with the peace of mind to know that their children are in a safe and supervised place while parents are at work
  • Provides students with a healthy snack
  • Provides students with education about healthy behaviors, such as Physical Education for 45 minutes per day and nutrition lessons. Thus, lowering the risk of childhood obesity.
  • Provides students with one hour to finish up homework with tutoring and assistance from their program leader
  • Provides students who are struggling with small group intervention instruction
  • Provides students with enrichment activities and clubs
  • Gives students the opportunity to build positive relationships with other children and adults outside of school
  • Increases students' confidence in self
  • Provides students with community service learning opportunities
  • Provides students the opportunity to go on field trips twice in a school year

 

Summer Camp:

  • Decreases summer learning loss
  • Provides parents with the peace of mind to know that their children are in a safe and supervised place while parents are at work
  • Provides students with the opportunity to go on a field trip once per week
  • Includes a reading program where students get to take their books home and keep them
  • Focuses on STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math)
  • Offers water Games once a week

 

Other fun facts:

  • Big Up Kidz students currently average at 42 points higher on standardized benchmark testing for participating students versus non-participating students.
  • Big Up Kidz students currently complete an average of 92% of their homework.
  • Our student behavior is dramatically improved for participating students versus non-participating students.
  • Parents have an 85% satisfaction rating with our program, according to a survey administered by Pepperdine University.
  • Studies show that communities that provide After School Programs for youth have a decrease in crime, a more productive work force, and a higher high school graduation rate.
  • After School Programs help the students of the schools they serve and their communities as well.

 

How can parents help?

  • Donate Today: We take donations in the form of goods, services, and monetary.
  • Volunteer: We can always use your help in the classroom, especially on field trips. If you don't feel comfortable working with children, we can use your help in the office as well.
  • Be supportive: If we need your assistance in helping to correct your child's behavior, please support us so that we can continue to provide our services to your family.
  • Spread the word: Tell everyone in your community how much you love our program.
